Toshiba NB100
Review of the Toshiba NB100

The Toshiba netbook is quite clearly aimed at the business market. It just has a more premium feel to it than other netbooks. Yet, Toshiba has clearly understand excatly what a netbook should be - small, cheap and light. The NB100 meets all these simple requirements.
The NB100 is available with either Windows XP Home, or a Toshiba-tweaked version of Ubuntu Linux. We had a look at the latter, and as always, we suggest you always pick the linux version - they are generally faster on boot up and start up, and the NB100 is no different.
The Toshiba netbook comes with a 8.9" screen and glossy black casing and looks, well, the business. Its light, at under 1kg, but has a reasonable 3.5 hour battery life.
The NB100 comes with a 120gb hard drive and all the usual ports and connections, including bluetooth and wireless.
Most of the other comments we've seen relating to this netbook focus mainly on its looks. They say its boring, as if its from a time capsule and very business like. Excatly! As a professional, you simply do not want to take a pink netbook into your meeting. You need a professional looking, yet small and light pc and the Toshiba NB 100 does this to the tee.
The only bad thing is, on the Windows XP version, the netbook comes preloaded with the usual gumph! Norton Antivirus, CD/DVD Authoring, DVD player etc - WHY!?! The netbook doesnt have a CD Drive so it just takes up unnecessary space.
Apart from that minor gripe, we think that the Toshiba NB100 is a very good business standard netbook and if you looking for a netbook for business use, then the NB100 will do the job perfectly.
