LG X110 Netbook announced featuring 3G/HSDPA
The LG X110 netbook has been formally announced at IFE and you can expect built in 3G/HSPDA for broadband speed internet surfing everywhere for around £320!
The X110 netbook is no oil painting and, frankly, we cant see what else is attractive about the netbook. It has a 10 inch screen, Intel Atom 1.6Ghz processor, 80gb/160gb standard hard drive and comes with Windows XP .
No linux, no fast SSD flash storage - just a small computer. We expect, given the 3G/HSPDA-ability, that the netbook will be bundled with mobile phone networks' mobile broadband bundles easily. So it is quite possible that the LG X110 netbook will be free, pretty much like the Free Elonex Webbook at Carphone Warehouse.
LG Netbook in the making
According to rumours, LG is the next company to jump on the netbook bandwagon and have signed a deal with MSI to make its new mini laptop. The X110 Netbook is claimed to have an 8.9-inch LCD screen, 2GB of RAM and use a traditional, 120GB hard drive. It will ship with Windows XP, and the company is supposedly uncertain as to whether they will provide a Linux-based option. Price range is predicted for £349-£399, which makes it quite expensive compared to most ultra-cheap, ultra portable netbook pcs.
While LG are yet to comment on the rumours, the same sources suggest that the company will focus on industrial design and build quality in an attempt to differentiate the X110 among the other budget ultraportables. It’s expected to be available in both North America and Europe.
